Bay connects for 6th Home Run

Jason Bay went yard for the 6th time in April, going 1 for 4, striking out 3 times and walking once in a 5-4 loss to the Mets.

Dodgers catcher Russell Martin got his 10th RBI of the year going 1 for 5 with a strikeout in LA's 7-6 win over Florida.

Eric Gagne recorded his 8th save for Milwaukee, giving up a hit, a walk and striking out 1, in 1 inning of work in the Brewers 10-7 win over Chicago.

Justin Morneau went 0 for 4 but the Twins won anyways, 3-1 over the White Sox.

Joey Votto went 0 for 1 with a walk in the Reds 7-2 loss to the Cardinals.

And Matt Stairs came on as a pinch hitter for Toronto and struck out in his only at bat in a 1-0 loss to Boston.

Matt Stairs went 0 for 4 with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts for Toronto in the Blue Jays 5-2 win over the Royals.

Joey Votto went 1 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored for the Reds in a 10-1 win over the Giants.

Eric Gagne gave up just 1 hit in 1 inning of relief for the Brewers, as they dropped a 3-2 decision to the Marlins in extra innings.

Jason Bay went 2 for 5 with a strikeout in Pittsburghs 5-1 win over the Phillies.

Bedard comes off D.L. to earn win

Mariners ace Erik Bedard showed why he is worthy of that title by coming off the DL and throwing 6.2 innings of 2 hit ball. Bedard earned his second win of the year and saw his ERA lowered to 2.04, as Seattle beat Oakland 5-3. Eric Gagne struck out 3 in the 9th to earn his 7th save of the year. He allowed one hit, a single.

Joey Votto went 3 for 5, including a double and 2 runs scored, as Cincinnati squeaked by the Giants, 10-9.

Jason Bay had a day to forget, going 0 for 4 with a strikeout in the Pirates 8-4 loss the to cross-state rival Phillies.

Matt Stairs went 2 for 4 in Toronto's 2-1 loss to Kansas City.

Russell Martin had a double in 3 at bats, scored 2 runs and was walked once in an 11-3 LA win over the Rockies.

And Justin Morneau went 1 for 4 with a walk and a run scored for the Twins, as they doubled-up Texas 12-6. Jesse Crain struck out the only two batters he faced.

Morneau, Bay both go long

Justin Morneau hit his 6th Home Run of the year and drove in all 5 of Minnesota's run in a 6-5 extra inning loss to Texas. Morneau finished 3 for 5 with a walk.

Jason Bay also went deep, hitting his 5th Home Run of 2008 for his only hit in a 1 for 4 game versus Philadelphia. Bay scored 2 runs, drove in 1, walked and struck out in Pittsburghs 6-5 loss to the Phillies.

Ryan Dempster went 7 strong innings for the Cubs, allowing 2 earned runs on just 4 hits, getting a no decision in Chicagos 5-3 loss to the Nationals. Dempster struck out 5 and walked 3 while seeing his ERA drop to 2.90.

Eric Gagne went 1 inning for the Brewers in their 3-0 extra inning loss to the Marlins. Gagne didn't allow a run or a hit and gave up a walk.

Matt Stairs hit his first double of the year for Toronto in a 8-4 loss to Kansas City. The double was Stairs' only hit in the game as he finished 1 for 3 with a strikeout.

Russell Martin had a perfect day at the plate, going 4 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI's for LA in a 8-7 13 inning victory over the Rockies. Martin also walked twice and scored 1 run.

And Joey Votto went 0 for 3 with all 3 at bats ending in a strikeout. Not a good day for Votto.

Hill strong in second start

Sean Hill went 5 innings in his second start of the year, allowing 2 earned runs on 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5 in Washingtons 10-5 victory over the Mets. Hill got a no-decision.

Adam Loewen had a rough start, lasting only 2.2 innings for the Orioles, while giving up 5 earned runs on 4 hits and 3 walks. He struck out one and saw his ERA rise to 7.85.

A day after hitting 2 Home Run's, Matt Stairs went 0 for 3 as the Jays were swept by the Rays, losing the finale 5-3.

Matt Stairs had a monster day for Toronto, smashing 2 Home Run's for the Jays, finishing the day 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's. However it wasn't enough as the Blue Jays lost 5-3 to Tampa Bay.

Jason Bay hit his 4th Home Run of 2008, going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's and a strikeout, leading Pittsburgh to a 7-4 win over St. Louis.

Joey Votto went 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts for the Reds as they lost 9-3 to Houston.

Justin Morneau went 1 for 4 with a strikeout for Minnesota in a 3-0 loss to Oakland.

And Russell Martin went 1 for 3 with 2 walks and a strikeout for the Dodgers as LA beat Arizona 8-3.

Gagne continues to struggle, blows another save

Eric Gagne blew another save chance for the Brewers but Milwaukee rebounded in extra innings to win 9-8 over St. Louis. Gagne went 1 inning and gave up 1 run on 1 hit and 1 walk. He also struck out 2.

Jason Bay went 1 for 4 with a run scored for Pittsburgh as they got by the Marlins 3-2.

Joey Votto went 3 for 4 with a double, an RBI and 2 runs scored for Cincinnati in their 8-1 win over the Dodgers. Russell Martin went 0 for 1 with 3 walks and a strikeout for LA.

Jeff Francis got a no-decision for Colorado as the lefty tossed 7 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks while picking up 3 strikeouts.

Russell Martin went 3 for 3 with a double, an RBI, a walk and scored a run for the Dodgers in their 9-3 win over Joey Votto and the Reds. Votto went 1 for 3 with a solo Home Run, a walk and struck out once. Votto's Home Run was his 4th of the year.

Jason Bay went 0 for 3 with a walk and a strikeout as his Pirates were crushed by the Marlins 10-4.

And Matt Stairs went 1 for 4 in Toronto's 5-1 loss to Detroit.

Gagne blows save for Brewers

Eric Gagne blew his 3rd save oppurtunity of the year and took the loss for the Brewers by allowing 3 runs, on 2 hits(both Home Run's) and 1 walk, as the Reds won 4-3. He also failed to record an out, and saw his ERA raised to 8.22. Cincinnati first baseman Joey Votto went 0 for 4 with a strikeout.

Russell Martin hit his 2nd Home Run of the year, going 1 for 4 with 2 strikeouts in a 6-1 loss to Atlanta.

Ryan Dempster threw 5 innings for the Cubs, and move to 3-0 on the season by allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks while picking up 2 strikeouts in a 13-6 Chicago win over Pittsburgh. Jason Bay was held hitless but walked twice and scored a run.

And Justin Morneau went 2 for 5 with 1 RBI and a strikeout in a 2-1 Twins win over Cleveland.

Joey Votto went deep for the 3rd time this year and finished 1 for 4 with 2 RBI's in a 10 inning 5-3 loss to the Brewers. Eric Gagne picked up his 7th save of the month, pitching a perfect 10th inning and striking 1.

Justin Morneau also hit a Home Run, his 5th, in a 3-0 Twins victory over Cleveland. Morneau ended the day 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's and a run scored.

Jason Bay went 1 for 3 with a walk but it wasn't even close to enough for Pittsburgh as they were crushed 13-1 by the Cubs.

Matt Stairs DH'd for Toronto today and went 2 for 3 with a walk and a run scored as the Blue Jays edged Detroit 3-2. Stairs is batting .333 for the season.

Russell Martin came on as a pinch hitter and grounded into a fielders choice for the Dodgers as they lost 4-1 to Atlanta.

And Shawn Hill made his first start of the year for Washington today. The Mississaugua native allowed 4 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings. He didn't walk anyone and struck out 6, throwing 85 pitches.

Eric Gagne got his 6th save of the year, striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced in a 5-2 Brewers win over Joey Votto and the Reds. Votto finished the game 0 for 2 with 1 strikeout.

Jason Bay went 2 for 3 with a run scored and a walk for the Pirates in a 3-2 loss to Chicago. Bay raised his batting average to .278 and is showing signs of bouncing back from a tough 2007 season.

Russell Martin saw his average drop back down below the .200 mark by going 0 for 3 with a walk for LA as the Dodgers lost 6-1 to Atlanta.

Twins first baseman Justin Morneau went 0 for 3 as Minnesota dropped a 4-0 loss to Cleveland. Jesse Crain bounced back well from his last outting as he pitched 2 perfect innings, striking out 2 and throwing 13 of his 19 pitches for strikes.

Francis pitches well, Rockies lose in 22 inning game

Jeff Francis pitched his best game of 2008, going 7 strong innings, giving up just 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7 Padres. Francis got a no-decision in this game, as it didn't end until the 22nd inning with San Diego winning 2-1.

Eric Gagne picked up his 4th save of 2008 in Milwaukee's 10-inning 5-3 win over the 1st place St. Louis Cardinals. Gagne threw 1 inning, allowing 1 hit and 1 walk with 1 strikeout.

Loewen walks 5, takes the loss

Orioles pitcher Adam Loewen suffered his first loss of 2008, dropping a 3-1 decision to the White Sox. Loewen went 6 innings and gave up 3 runs on 6 hits and 5 walks while striking out 3.

Joey Votto went 2 for 3, with both hits being doubles, but the Reds lost 12-3 to the Cubs. Votto also drove in a run.

Justin Morneau went 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored for Minnesota as they edged Tampa 6-5. Morneau also walked once and struck out once.

Russell Martin went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a walk as the Dodgers beat the Pirates 8-1. Jason Bay had 4 at bats for Pittsburgh, managing just a single in the loss.

Matt Stairs came on to pinch hit in the 8th inning and singled to left field in his only at bat. He would later come around to score but it wasn't enough as Toronto lost 7-5 in 14 innings to Texas.

Justin Morneau hit his 4th Home Run of the year but the Twins couldn't hold off the Tigers, dropping a 6-5 decision to Detroit. Morneau finished 1 for 4 with 2 RBI and struck out twice. Jesse Crain wasted a strong start by Scott Baker but blowing the save, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits, including a Home Run. Crain also struck out 1 and walked 1.

Ryan Dempster moved to 2-0 with a victory over Joey Votto and the Reds. Dempster went 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 5 walks and 5 hits, including a solo Home Run to Votto. Dempster also struck out 3. As for Votto, the Home Run was his first of 2008 and he finished 1 for 4 with a strikeout. Dempster also picked up a hit in this game, going 1 for 2

Russell Martin also went deep, as the Dodgers embarrassed Jason Bay's Pirates, 11-2. Martin finished 1 for 4 with 1 RBI and a strikeout. Bay went 1 for 3 with a walk in the loss.

And Blue Jays outfielder Matt Stairs went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's as the Blue Jays crushed the Orioles, 11-3.

Bay struggles but Pirates win

After a couple of good games, Jason Bay came back to Earth tonight as he went 0 for 5 with 3 strikeouts for the Pirates in a 6-4 win over the Dodgers. Fellow Canadian Russell Martin had a better day, going 2 for 4 with a run scored in the loss.

Justin Morneau went 1 for 5 with 2 RBI but the Twins lost 11-9 to Detroit. He also struck out once.

And Matt Stairs had a single and a run scored in 4 at bats for Toronto as the Jays lost to Baltimore, 4-3.

Bay's 3-run shot paces Pirates to win

Jason Bay went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI, all of which came from his 7th inning Home Run, as the Pirates beat the Reds 9-1. Joey Votto came on as a pinch hitter and failed to collect a hit.

Brewers closer Eric Gagne converted his 3rd save of 2008 today, pitching another perfect 9th inning, striking out one in a 9-7 win over the Mets. Gagne has lacked consistency ever since leaving the Dodgers, so hopefully he can go on a run of great outtings for Milwaukee.

Justin Morneau drove in the Twins only run of the game in a 5-1 loss to Kansas City. Morneau finished the day 1 for 4 and the Twins saw their record fall to 6-6.

Matt Stairs came on in the 7th inning as a pinch hitter and singled to center in his only at bat in a 10-inning 5-4 Jays win over Texas.

Russell Martin is in a slump. The Dodgers catcher, who batted .293 with 19 Home Runs and 87 RBI in 2007, is batting just .146 through 12 games, with just 6 hits and 11 strikeouts. He has yet to hit a Home Run and if the Dodgers are going to compete in the tough AL West, Martin will need to be much better.
